Total Hip Stem Component

The "femoral or stem component" represent the shaft that goes into the marrow cavity of femur. It is usally made of metal. There are two current methods of fixing the shaft to the bone, cemenrtless and cement. With the cementless technique, the shaft is porous thus allowing the bone to grow directly into the surface and fix the metallic shaft directly to the skeleton, while cement teqhniques use gluing agents such as bone cemement
