The Four Essential Steps

In order to properly create a biomimetic neural prostheses system which is able to replicate the function of regions of the central nervous system, there are four essentials steps:

1. Experimental study in order to analyze the neurons of interest and their neural network function [2].

2. Formulation of biologically realistic mathematical models of neural system dynamics [2].

3. Mircochip implementation of the system model for the brain region of interest [2].

4. Development of hybrid neuron-silicon interfaces that will enable bi-directional communication between neurons and the chip [2].
