Tissue Engineered Skin: Apligraf®

Skin TE Design Criteria.

When Tissue Engineering and tissue there are a set of design criteria that must be first considered. The tissue must conserve the form and function of the In Vivo model. It must be able to sustain the same mechanical rigors and have the same durability. The tissue must also not pose any immunogenic response and be rejected by the host recipient. Ideally, this engineered tissue should be fully integrated and the body should be able to remodel it as it does other tissue so that is can adapt to different conditions and while aging.
