Microscopy-Future

Microscopes used currently in the operating room are pretty refined. There is always an effort to produce better quality and more reliable equipment, but there is little in the way of big advancements that need to be made for intraoperative microscopy. The only significantly useful advance would be smaller, more convenient systems. Perhaps a ceiling mounted system. Some systems have a bulky computer that is used to acquire images. In the operating room of the future, this either will be shrunk down to a much smaller size or moved out of the operating room to a remote location.
