Methods of Fabrication of Microfluidic Devices
- Although traditional fabrication include glass and silicon based methods, many modern microfluidic devices are made using polymer based soft-lithography techniques. These polymer based methods provide cheaper and faster means to fabricate microfluidic devices.
- A common method of polymer fabrication is illustrated to the left. Silicon master molds are typically made using SU-8 thick photoresist. PDMS is then pressed onto the mold and allowed to cure. The resulting molds can be bonded together to create various sizes and shapes of fluid channels.
