The applications for gecko adhesives are astounding. In regards to the medical field, these dry, self cleaning adhesives would make excellent tissue adhesives for wound closure. The gecko adhesive would be able to provide strong bonding/closure at the site of injury, but it would also be able to be easily removed once the wound completely heals. Gecko tape could also be used as waterproof sealants for hollow organ anatomoses and mesh grafts to treat burns, ulcers, and hernias [5].
Medical Applications
In non-medical applications, this adhesive could have uses in robotics or even replace glue and screws. It also has obvious potential in the sport and military fields in fumble-free gloves, rock climbing aides, or Spider-man like attachment for soldiers or robots to climb up walls [1].
